World Cup 2015 awarded to Tickethour

February 11, 2015

For only the second time in its history, the finals of the World Men’s Handball Championship will be held in the Middle East. Egypt hosted this prestigious international event in 1999 and Qatar was chosen to host the forthcoming 24th Championship back in 2011, beating bids from Norway, Poland and France.

The World Men’s Handball Championship 2015 takes place from 15 January to 1 February 2015 and will feature 24 teams from all over the world. These teams have been split into in four groups of six and including Qatar as hosts, Spain as reigning world champions, plus Denmark, Sweden, Brazil and Iran. Matches will be played in newly-constructed arenas in Doha and Lusail.

Billed as the most important event in the Persian Gulf region for 2015, The Qatar 2015 Organising Committee needed a robust and scalable solution for ticketing and entrance control. With three different venues and an estimated attendance of over 200,000 for the 60 group matches plus the 15 final games, Qatar turned to Tickethour.

The website that Tickethour built for the World Men’s Handball Championship 2015 is easy to use, available in English and Arabic, and features modern HTML5 technology to create a seamless ticketing experience. With HTML5, customers can choose their preferred seat when booking via a mobile device. They can also opt to use an electronic ticket – no printing required. The customer simply shows the ticket that’s stored on their phone when they attend the event.

Having already successfully ticketed the 2011 Asian Cup and the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final 2014 at Twickenham, Tickethour’s innovative, reliable and agile systems are the perfect fit for large international events. These are also the reasons why Tickethour was chosen to provide the ticketing solution for the Baku 2015 European Games in Azerbaijan.

Tickets for the World Men’s Handball Championship 2015 are available to buy via or and customers can log in using their Tickethour, Facebook or Google+ IDs.
